Court Real Royal Tennis Racquets Early 1900s Scarce Rare Collection.I will also considering selling individually if the lot does not sell.I have many other great wood and graphite rackets from the classic tennis era.Contact me for any questions or other racket interestsThanks for looking !JoeSch at woodtennis dot comSome info:Court rackets are tennis racquets are usually made from old heavy woods like hickory or ash. Heavy sheep gut was commonly used for the stringing of these racquets. It is interesting to note that, before the invention of a new method of stringing a tennis racquet in 1856, the old way of stringing consisted of looping the side strings round the main strings. This produced a rough and smooth effect in the strings and hence came the practice of calling “rough” or “smooth” to win the toss at the beginning of a lawn tennis match.
