1920 Pennant CHALLENGE Tennis Racket Great Decal
Antique very clean nice old early wood
wooden racquet in classic oval shape; super decal
NOTE:
Just in time for Wimbledon. Part
of a group of 9 rackets I just found. I will list one racket a day between June
16 and June 24. This is the last racket in this group! Will combine items for reduced postage for multiple
purchases.
MODEL: Pennant CHALLENGE
HEAD: Classic 1920s oval; stock is square at the base of the head,
becoming very slightly rounded over at the top; very minor scuffing to top of
head
WARPING: none
FRAME: excellent clean and bright condition; retains most of the
original finish on the shaft, throat and around the head
THROAT WEDGE:
Concave in the style of the period; laminated in place
STRINGS: original as shown; probably lamb gut
BANDING: retains the four original gray and tan bands in excellent
condition; they match the gray color of the shoulders and the tn color of the
strings
DECALS: As shown; they are excellent: the Pennant with two tennis
rackets is really nice and colorful
GRIP: 4 5/8 inches
around; shallow grooves; this racket pre-dates leather grips so it was not made
with grip material
STAMPS: 12 ½ OZ. on the shaft as shown
WEIGHT: weighs 12.2 ounces
END CAP: original unusual teal color leather strip at the base of the
handle matches the background paint behind the decals ; the beautiful heel end
cap is intact, crisp, and Kelly green
