Nice older wooden racket with a large B on the bottom cap, a real leather grip, and a very pretty handle and frame. Under the grip its labeled 4 1/2 M.The racket frame is laminated wood, I believe. The strings seem good and firm, but I'm not an expert. There are 4 gold ribbon bands decorating the racket . Above the handle it says Bancroft, with a B inside of an olive wreath logo, and above this in all caps Forest Hills in Gold letters. This wording is on both sides. The spreader, or stretcher is all wood and is stamped Japan on one edge. I have not taken it off or tried to loosen it. As found.
As you can see, the grip is damaged, as is the cap on the bottom of the handle. The lettering and decals have some chips and fine cracks. I do not think there's any damage to the wood itself, except a small partial chip, possibly, that's hard to see because it's inside the stretcher. I think its about 1 cm long and 1 mm wide.
With the spreader on, this weighs about 4-5 pounds.
