THE OPPOSITE SIDE HAS THE ORIGINAL OWNER'S INITIALS CARVED INTO THE WOOD: A CAPITAL "T" WITH A CAPITAL "E" SUPERIMPOSED ON THE "T".APPROX. DIMENSIONS: 27" X 9-1/4".CONDITION: VERY GOOD VINTAGE CONDITION WITH TYPICAL DAYTON SCRATCHES & PAINT CHIPS AROUND THE METAL FRAME.  IT APPEARS STRUCTURALLY SOUND. THERE ARE TWO DINGS IN THE WOOD PLUS THE CARVED INITIALS AND SOME SMALL RANDOM DINGS.  ORIGINALLY THE BUTT OF THE HANDLE HAD A LEATHER COVER, NOW LESS THAN HALF REMAINS. Additional Information: The Dayton Steel Racquet Company, Dayton ,Ohio, began production of tennis racquets in 1922.  They were strung with piano wire, considered indestructible, & therefore ideal for schools etc., where they received rough handling------which is why most of the ones you see on the market today are heavily scratched.
This particular racquet is a "New Dayton" model and harder to find than the models named  "Clipper", "Cadet", "Aviator", & "Pilot".
