Description
Brand: A.W. Gamage of Holborn Country/Region of Manufacture: United Kingdom

This Superb Old Lawn Brass Tennis Court Measure by A.W. Gamage of Holborn & Dating from Around Early 1900'sThe tape measure is 78 feet in length & specifically designed to measure out a singles and/or doubles lawn tennis court. The various sizes of the courts are displayed on the front of the tape measure - see photos. As you pull out the tape the reverse has descriptions at various intervals confirming what the particular measurement is. For example, at 18 feet it states, "Mid Base Line. Dbl Service Line Crosses Centre Line". These various descriptions all link into the measurement provided on the front of the tape measure. The tape measure is made of brass with a black front and was probably made/sold by A.W. Gamage, which was a large department store in Holburn, London. It is in good working condition for its age with some minor scratches on the front and a dent on the reverse side. The first two inches of the tape has had some work to re-fix the actual brass pull (clasp). It is fully functioning as I have pulled the tape out to its full 78 feet and wound it back with no problems. The housing measures approximately 107mm (4.25") in diameter by 20mm (.75") in height and weighs approximately 264 grams (9.3 oz). Please review the images carefully.
