Vintage Wood 1920s Leacock St Louis MERCURY Tennis Racket Rawlings?Leacock’s was the St. Louis most recognized sporting goods retailer; Rawlings supplied them with many different sports equipment items.Antique old early wood wooden racquet with terrific bright colors.NOTE:  Part of a group of rackets I just found. I will list one racket a day between October 21 and October 30.  Will combine items for reduced postage for multiple purchases.MODEL: 1920s MERCURY; probably by Rawlings HEAD: Classic period oval; stock is square at the shoulders and rounded as it goes around the top of the head WARPING: noneFRAME: retains beautiful colors and grain finish on the wedge; less than expected wear to the top of the headTHROAT WEDGE:  Concave in the style of the periodSTRINGS: original lamb gut in super condition with strings color coordinated with the rest of the racket decoration.  Also has “sweet spot” stringing. Just one break in the mains and one in the “target” stringing.BANDING: beautiful four original silk color coordinated bands of black and copper in wonderful intact conditionDECALS: As shown GRIP: 4 ¾  inches, narrow shallow grooves; never had grip materialSTAMPS: L as shown (perhaps for the weight)WEIGHT: weighs 11.8 ounces actual weightEND CAP: green leather strip almost completely intact with almost no wear as shown in the photo; great green color coordinated end cap as shown Postage will be based on 3.5 pounds of packed weight.  International buyer: please wait for the invoice.  International shipping: Approximately $45 for one racket; $4 for each additional racket in the same box.Last racket in this collection will be listed on October 30.
