Vintage Bright Clean 1923 New Dayton Steel Tennis Racket Original Intact Wire Strings Dayton was the model on which they based the “revolutionary” Wilson T-2000 in the late 1960s. Antique old early wood wooden and steel racquet with cool design intact original strings NOTE: Part of a group of rackets I just found. I will list one racket a day between October 21 and October 30. Will combine items for reduced postage for multiple purchases. MODEL: 1923 New Dayton Racquet HEAD: Classic period oval made of tubular steel framing WARPING: none FRAME: Dayton’s unique open throat design; retains bright clean and crisp original old black paint finish; less than expected wear to the top of the head THROAT WEDGE: open as shown STRINGS: original steel wire in super condition with no breaks; some excellent double stringing in the vertical mains BANDING: none DECALS: Beautiful, as shown; decal on one side only GRIP: 4 ¾ inches, narrow shallow grooves; never had grip material, terrific crackled original finish to the wood at the throat STAMPS: DAYTON in a diamond on both sides WEIGHT: weighs 13.2 ounces actual weight END CAP: leather strip intact with almost no wear as shown in the photo; super end cap with patent date as shown (these seldom survive in such good condition) Postage will be based on 3.5 pounds of packed weight.
