This is a used tennis racquet with minor paint and/or finish imperfections. Racquet is structurally and functionally in good condition. Dating from 1986, the Pro Cynetic 1 was Donnay’s top performance offering, and was used by several ATP and WTA pros, including Jimmy Arias, and a budding USTA junior by the name of Pete Sampras (after switching from the Kneissl Aero 20 in 1985, and leading to his ultimate use of the very similar Wilson Pro Staff 85). The Pro Cynetic 1 featured a mold that was almost millimeter-perfectly a clone of the Wilson PS85, minus the Wilson’s PWS bulges. Donnay and Wilson had inked an agreement for Donnay to assist Wilson producing early batches of the PS85 at their factory in Couvin, Belgium, and in return, Donnay produced several models of its own in the same mold, albeit with slight differences: no PWS, and a different, more uniform 16x19 string pattern. The Pro Cynetic was the pinnacle of this program, with its graphite-Kevlar layup (same as the PS85), making it a very stiff and maneuverable frame, suited for all styles of attacking play. This specimen is a very good one. Grip size is 4-1/2”. The original leather grip is in good condition, but is hiding under an ovegrip. There is some very shallow scratching on the tip of the frame (it’s a bumperless design), and there are some minor paint chips, a very common malady to Donnay frames of this era. Plastic grommets are in excellent shape, and it has a fresh string job of Tecnifibre E-Matrix 16 at approximately 55 pounds. The original full-length bag is also included. The PS85’s European half-brother is an excellent, fun hit! Priority Mail shipping to continental USA is $12.00. Please take a look at my other auctions for more interesting classic tennis gear.
