Interesting classic Wright & Ditson “Comet” wooden tennis racket, dating from the early 1930’s.  This seems to be a more obscure model of W&D, with an unusual shoulder treatment.  This specimen is in average condition, showing some cosmetic nicks and dings, fading and crazing of graphics and paint, and wear on the hoop.  A very old set of gut strings is still intact.  Grip is a massive (by today’s standards) 4-3/4” size, with its original perforated vinyl wrap and leather butt cap held in place by copper nails.  Head warpage is negligible – amazing for an 80-year-old wooden racquet!   Please see my other auctions for more interesting classic tennis gear.
