| PAYMENT IS DUE IN THREE DAYS OR LESS Early Wood Racquet w Manhattan Store Decal I find no brand distinction on this early racket, but it carries the decal of a long time Manhattan Department store called A. Raymond & Co. This company stared business in 1857 and was located in lower Manhattan at the corner of Nassau and Fulton Streets. They had a sporting goods department inside the store, see closeup of gold decal with store info. I don't know anything about racquets, but this has a concave wedge, catgut strings, and is missing the pad at the end of the handle. Racket is pretty straight, but does have a slight twist to the head. The initials DMR are lightly scratched into the wood just below the decal. I believe these are the original strings on this racket. Measures 26.5" long (without end cap), about 14.75" of that measurement is handle, the head is 9" across. Weighs just over a pound unboxed.
