Vintage Antique open throat tennis racquet manufactured by A.G. Spalding & Bros. Model is Top-Flite. According to the book Tennis Antiques & Collectibles by Jeanne Cherry, this model was manufactured from 1927-1938. Racquet is solid, leather grip is good and even has the Spalding logo (S) end piece as shown in PHOTOS. The Spalding decal in the middle of the handle is very nice, not perfect but pretty good as shown in PHOTOS. The writing SPALDING TOP-FLITE above the open throat is very nice. The writing on the other side is almost all gone. SEE PHOTOS. The area just below the open throat on both sides that says Fiber-Welded is worn as shown in PHOTOS.
See PHOTOS for condition of strings as some are broken as shown.
On the handle on the other side of the Spalding decal it says A.G. Spalding & Bros Quality ever since 1876. This is very nice and very legible. On the side of the racquet the patent number is stamped as shown in PHOTOS.
