RARE VINTAGE ANTIQUE SEARS WRIGHT & DITSON WOODEN TENNIS RACQUET RACKET. According to the book Tennis Antiques & Collectibles by Jeanne Cherry, Wright & Ditson made several models for Sears from 1896-1900; 1898-1908; 1908-1920 (there were Sears Special 1888-1905). I believe this is the model produced from 1908-1920.
The old Wright & Ditson logo (on the throat) is beautiful depicting old tennis player with a turn of century racquet and a tennis ball under that-inside ball it says Wright Ditson Championship in script! SEE PHOTOS. On other side of throat it says Sears.
Leather strip on end of handle is all there as well as the nails holding it on.
Racquet has interesting yellowed (by age) strips on either side, just above the throat. SEE PHOTOS.
Racquet is solid although some of the strings are broken.. SEE PHOTOS.
