For auction is a vintage Dayton Racquet Co Inc Aviator Steel tennis racket in good condition. Made in 1926.
HISTORY: Dayton made steel racquets in the 20's. Like other steel racquets of the era they were made with steel strings. These twisted steel strings made a high pitch sound at ball contact. According to my research in Kuebler's Book of Tennis Rackets Aviator with vibration dampening dated to 1926. "All steel rackets"CONDITION: Steel head / strings with octagonal wood handle with leather grip strip at bottom. Good condition. Light scratches to top and sides as shown. Unique brown color. See pics. Overall in good condition. 4 5/8" grip size. Has unique 'tubing' vibration dampeners on bottom two strings. From my references this was probably the first vibration dampener.An awesome vintage racket. See my other auctions for more nice tennis rackets.
