A. G. Spalding & Brothers was founded in 1876. Spalding made tennis popular in 1888 with its famous "Slocum Tennis Racket", named after the second singles champion in the USA. That racquet was made of imported white ash from Belgium. It is also reported that Spalding produced the first tennis balls in the USA. For almost a century Spalding was always a leading player in the racket business. (We can only combine shipping for U.S. sales!)
