Vintage Wood 1910 Spalding Lakeside No. 5 Tennis Racket Unusual Frame with Dramatic Chamfering Classic clean antique nice old early wood wooden racquet from A G Spalding; rich wood tones; very dramatic chamfering to the racket head NOTE: Part of a group of 12 rackets fresh to the market. I will list two rackets a day between March 21 and March 26. Will combine items for much reduced postage for multiple purchases. MODEL: 1905 Spalding LAKESIDE NO. 5 HEAD: Classic period oval; stock is square at the shoulders and has a very sharply angled chamfer as it goes up and around the top of head; unusual shape; looks like it would break easily so not too many around WARPING: none FRAME: excellent condition with old soft crackled finish (my favorite kind); lustrous glow; less than expected wear to the top of the head THROAT WEDGE: 1900 solid convex wedge STRINGS: 20 by 26 small hole pattern as shown; original lamb gut with tan crosses and red mains BANDING: the two original silk thread bands are intact DECALS: As shown GRIP: narrow grooves; large 5 inches; pre-dates grip material STAMPS: 20 M R as shown WEIGHT: weighs 13.2 ounces actual weight END CAP: leather strip intact with some wear; end cap as shown Postage will be based on 3.5 pounds of packed weight.
