A racquet that combined the accuracy of wood with the increased power and durability of fiberglass. McEnroe used this racquet in 1982 and 1983, before entering the graphite racquet era.. So this is the last version of legendary Dunlop Maxply, 'The most popular wood ever' introduced in 1931, before the line in wood stopped 50+ years later" .. Rod Leaver `64-`70, Ilie Nastase `73 and John McEnroe `81 were World No.1 Dunlop Maxply Fort. This stick still holds the record by the number of Slam titles won by one racket, also, R.Leaver won 2 of 3 Grand Slams in man competition with it - a success that may never be repeated. If it could be said for any racket that tennis history was written with it, than probably would be legendary Dunlop Maxply Fort ..
