Wilson Pro Staff Midsize St. Vincent - GMQ Tennis Racket Midsize - 85 sq.in. head size4-1/2" Genuine Leather GripGraphite/Kevlar CompositionVery Good Condition
This is the Real McCoy Folks! The legendary Wilson PRO STAFF MIDSIZE is the "Winning-est" tennis racket in the Open Era in terms of Grand Slam Events. It was the only racket used by the great Pete Sampras for his entire professional career.- winning 14 Majors (or Grand Slam) titles with it. The Wilson Pro Staff was/is also preferred by such tennis greats as Jimmy Conners, Stefan Edberg, Jim Courier, Chris Evert, and of course the all time men's Majors championship record holder Roger Federer (18 titles!).Saint Vincent?Yes! In fact we believe this is one of the earliest Pro Staff rackets manufactured by Wilson when they moved their factory from Chicago to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. This racket has all the tell tale indications of an early St. Vincent’s. Especially noteworthy are the following:1. All St. Vincent frames were painted with a red primer that can be seen below the final flat black paint coat if scraped away.2. All St. Vincent frames have square string channels.3. The W on the butt cap does not have Wilson's sub-scripted registered trade mark W® found on later versions.4. Three letters always ending in Q (like GMQ in this case) are imprinted on the butt cap always below the W. Famously the "tail" of the Q is missing or difficult to discern making it look at first glance like a capital letter O. This quirk is a hallmark of the St Vincent Pro Staff.6. The early rackets had no head guard.7. The early rackets have no writing on the inner throat. Later versions had stickers applied with the racket specs. All these features can be seen in the photographs.Take a close look. We have made no attempt to touch up anything on the racket or in the photos. A previous owner seems to have used a black marker to hide the red primer on a couple scratches.Overall the racket is in very good used condition. The strings and leather grip are especially well preserved. One might walk onto a court and play with this great racket right now. We have and it has a wonderfully solid feel.Rest assured it has been packaged with the utmost care to protect it during transit.HAPPY BIDDING!P.S. SOLD AS-ISNO RETURNS. NO REFUNDS.
