This is a very fine example of the classic Mid 70's Spalding Impact 800 Wood Tennis Racquet.  The racquet features 5 ply French White Ash with fiber reinforced bow and throat.  This series of racquets were made in Belgium.  As the pictures show, the color is good, all the logos and writing is intact, the leather handle is good.  The overall condition is decent but lets not forget, this was a used racquet and does show signs of wear and use.  I do want to point out that the head is warped which was prevalent in wooden racquets.  Wooden racquets pretty much ended in the early 80's.  Wood racquets are a lost art sporting beautiful and ornate construction.  That's why the are in demand for collectibles.  The Spalding Company was founded in 1876 by Albert Spalding who happened to be a pitcher and manager of the Chicago White Stockings.  The company standardized early baseballs and developed the modern baseball bat.  the company went on to manufacturing dozens of different sporting goods.Getting back to the warped head.  I want you to understand it is priced accordingly.  Also, and this I feel is a good point.  This racquet would be perfect for a first time collector, or to hang on a wall in a restaurant, a sports bar, a collectors basement etc., where no one would notice the warped head anyway.  I doubt if anyone ever buys wood racquets on E-bay to actually use.  So, again, for the collector, I think this is great.
